Home invaded, set on fire by robber

A home invasion was made even worse late Sunday night when police say a robber set a family's home on fire.

It happened at a home on Emerson Trail, just off West Showalter in Georgetown.

Georgetown Police say the woman who lives in the home was outside when she was attacked by a robber, who was wearing a mask.

He bound her with duct tape on the home's back porch until she was able to break free.

That is when she went upstairs, where some children were.

Police say the robber was still in the house and set the stairwell on fire.

The woman was able to call 911, saying she and her three children were trapped in the upstairs of the home.

Police say they were able to escape out of a second story window.

Police say the woman suffered some smoke inhalation, and hurt her ankle during the escape. She was treated and released at a hospital.

Police say she didn't know the robber, who is still on the loose. They say they still have a lot of interviews to conduct, and a lot of evidence to process, regarding this case.
