No major accidents caused by snow in Scott County

SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Slick roads caused a few cars to slide off Scott County roads Tuesday morning, but no major accidents were reported.

The snow has stopped, and the roads are clear now, but there were some issues this morning.

Franklin County officials say they received less than a half inch of snow. Roads were covered around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning. Crews were dispatched soon after to begin salting and plowing.

It was tricky because many people were going to work or to school. Bus drivers were encouraged to pull over if the driver felt the conditions were too slick. Salt trucks would then arrive and clear a path.

"It was a very small amount of snow but with the temperature the way it was it got slick real quick with all the commuters and everything," Scott County Director of Roads and Maintenance, J.R. Brandenburg, told us.

The road department covers more than 275 miles of road. That work takes about four hours.
