The City of Benham in Harlan County is looking at how they can deal with abandoned houses in the city.

The mayor says they have torn down homes and trailers in the past, and now there are a few more they want to knock down.

There is an issue about how to deal with the debris left over from tearing down the houses, but the mayor says it needs to be done.

"We don't want people coming in and looking at dilapidated houses saying that we aren't what we should be. We try to set a good example for the other town and cities," said Benham Mayor John Dodd.

The city council did not make any decisions at their meeting Thursday night.
