HARLAN COUNTY, Ky (WYMT) - A family is searching for answers in a 36 year old cold case in Harlan County.

Dorothy Price's body was found inside her burned truck in 1976.

Price's sister Dot Short says she thought within a few weeks of the murder she would know who did it, but now 36 years later she is still left wondering who killed her sister.

"We still don't know who done it. Whoever done it might be somebody we talk to everyday. We just don't know," said Short.

Dot Short lived next to her sister at the time. She says Dorothy's car was outside her house at 8:00 that morning, but by 9:00 it was gone.

"We waited and called the beauty shop, and she never answered. So I say about 11:00 we went hunting for her because that wasn't like her to not show up for work," said Short.

She says later that day, her sister's truck was found smoking in a hollow. Dorothy Price's body was inside.

Dot Short says she has heard many stories through the years about what happened to her sister, but police have never made any arrests.

"We'd give anything in the world if we could just know who done it," said Short.

State police in Harlan did investigate the case.
