HARLAN COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - High school freshmen in Harlan County got a lesson on managing money as an adult.
The Harlan County 4-H hosted a "Reality Store" at the Harlan County Extension Depot this week.
Students were given a salary based on their GPA and what kind of job they want. Then the students had to go to around twenty storefronts and buy items they would need to live like groceries, insurance and other bills.
Students got to see just how much it costs to live as an adult.
"What we're trying to teach them is they need to make sure that they work harder in school to make better grades," said Raymond Cox.
Students from Harlan County High School, Harlan Independent and the Challenge Academy participated.
