HARLAN, Ky. (WYMT) - The Harlan Independent School Board chose a new superintendent.
Harlan native Charles Morton will take over as superintendent next school year.
David Johnson is retiring in June.
Morton is currently the Harlan High School principal.
He has also worked with Johnson for 16 years.
“This is my home. It's my privilege to devote your life to serving this community. We're a small school but quality,” Charles Morton said.
Morton says he does not anticipate any big changes in the school system when he takes over as superintendent.
