HARLAN, Ky. (WYMT) - Harlan City Police say they have made the first heroin arrest in the city in recent years.
Police say a couple from Indiana had the drug in Harlan.
Officers were investigating a car break-in complaint and say they found the suspects, Lyle and Cheryl Bargo in their car. Officers say they found marijuana and syringes full of heroin.
"Of course we're going to be worried with the abuse level as high as it is already. One thing, we don't know if, the couple was from Indiana, so we don't know if they brought it with them or if they got it while they were here," said Harlan Police Chief Mike Thomas.
Police say Cheryl Bargo had pills hidden in a body cavity at the jail and is also facing promoting contraband charges.
Police say the couple was here visiting family.
