GREEN HILLS, Ky (WYMT) - Christmas is still several days away, but some kids in Harlan County got a few presents early.
That's all thanks to Mission of Hope and some volunteers from Grace Baptist Church in Knoxville.
Tables of toys lined the gym at Green Hills Elementary School Friday morning.
"It's more than just presents, and we are here because we want them to know Jesus Christ just like we do," said Grace Baptist Church member Stewart Ritchie.
Each kid got to go home in two presents on Friday.
"These kids are so sweet, and they are so appreciative. And just to see the look on their face when they see these toys for the first time, it's priceless. It's just priceless," said Ritchie.
"It's just a great program. The kids eyes light up when they see the toys," said Sheila Hensley, a parent.
As much as kids enjoyed the gifts, the volunteers from Grace Baptist Church say they are the blessed ones.
"It's absolutely made my Christmas. I don't really want anything else. This has been great," said Ritchie.
Mission of Hope teams up with several churches to help out dozens of schools in the Appalachian region.
