COLDIRON, Ky. (WYMT) - A fire damaged part of a home in the Coldiron community of Harlan County Thursday and investigators suspect arson.
It was a sight that those living in the home described as horrifying.
“I thought everything was lost I didn't know what to do. I was in complete and utter shock,” said resident Jimmy Tinsley.
The Tinsley Family pulled into their driveway just in time to see the flames coming from their back porch.
“I about went into a panic attack because I saw the back porch blazing, and the people next door they already had water hoses and stuff to contain it,” said Crystal Tinsley.
Once neighbors and firefighters put out the fire, they found that the flames may have been intentional.
Officials believe the fire began on the back porch near a television, but this T.V. had no electricity running to it and made the fire very suspicious.
Family members said they had the same suspicions.
“My suspicion, I think somebody set it on fire,” said Jimmy.
Yet, said they were thankful the damage was not worse, and hope to never see that terrifying sight again.
“I'm thanking the man upstairs, the good Lord up above that what was saved was saved, and my neighbors; they'll never know how grateful we are that they came to help,” said Jimmy.
Officials said the investigation is open but that the fire is extremely suspicious.
