Parents arrested after syringe was found in son's backpack

HARLAN, Ky. (WYMT) - The parents of a five-year-old Harlan County boy are behind bars after a syringe was found in his backpack.

Police say the parents are charged with endangering the welfare of a minor.

Officials say the syringe was found by a teacher at James A. Cawood Elementary School.

We are not releasing the names of the parents in hopes of protecting the identity of the child.
