HARLAN, Ky. (WYMT) - A teenager stuck on the side of a cliff was rescued in Harlan County on Thursday.

A 17 year old boy left the Challenge Academy Thursday morning and ran up the mountain by the school.

Firefighters say he slid on ice down the the other side mountain next to Tractor Supply.

Firefighters say a tree stopped him just before he went over and it might have saved his life.

The rescue squad worked with CSX to get a ladder on the train tracks and pull him down.

Officials say he was taken to the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital with injuries but will be okay.

His name has not been released.
