HARLAN, Ky. (WYMT) - Two Harlan County mining officials and the Manalapan Mining Company pleaded guilty to federal safety violations.
Jefferson Davis and Joseph Miniard were charged with letting miners work in hazardous roof conditions in Manalapan's P-1 Mine.
On June 29th of last year, a miner was killed.
Wednesday in court, the two men and company representatives took a plea deal.
They pleaded guilty in exchange for some charges to be dismissed.
Davis and Miniard face up to one year in prison and fines.
