CAWOOD, Ky. (WYMT) - The water is coming back on for customers of Cawood Water District in Harlan County.
The superintendent says two separate leaks caused a water outage for 1,400 customers for several hours Thursday.
Crews have finished repairs to both lines, and the water is filling back up in the tanks.
The superintendent says customers should have water back in the evening hours.
"It's drained our tanks pretty much. We've got the leaks fixed and we're getting back on water right now," said Pete Dean, Water Superintendent.
Cawood Water District customers are under a boil water advisory until test results come back on the water. Dean says results are expected back on Tuesday.
While the water was out, some places brought in water to get through the day.
The Appalachian Challenge Academy is one place the water outage affected.
"It's a huge inconvenience. I mean, it affect every aspect of training here. We have an emphasis on safety as well as hydration so the kids got to be hydrated at all times," said Master Sergeant Jamie Stewart with the Appalachian Challenge Academy.
Officials say the water is back on now at the Appalachian Challenge Academy.
