A family is thankful they were able to escape their burning home early Wednesday morning.
The fire broke out on Kennedy Bridge Road, near Herrington Lake in Burgin, in Mercer County.
The homeowner says a barking dog woke him up around 3 a.m. That is when he looked outside and saw a back wall on fire.
The fire spread, burning a hole through the home's roof and heavily damaging the house.
More than 35 firefighters, including firefighters from Mercer and Boyle Counties, helped battle the flames.
No one was hurt.
