Someone claims to be raising money to help a Mercer County family whose home was heavily damaged by fire.
However, police say it's all a scam.
The fire destroyed nearly everything in the Kell family's home in Burgin.
The family says someone is now setting out jars around Mercer County, claiming to be collecting money for the family's recovery.
However, the family says they're not the ones doing it.
The fire broke out in the home on Main Street Sunday night. Firefighters say a lamp in the attic sparked the fire.
Since then, Melissa and Paul Kell and their family have been trying to salvage what they can. Now, they're having to deal with a scam.
"It's heartbreaking to know that people are using our names, saying that this is their house and calling people," Melissa Kell said. "We haven't been asking. We don't know what we need."
The Kells say they found out about the scam because a man came to their house, saying he got a call from someone claiming to be a member of the family.
Burgin Police are now investigating.
The Kell family was in the process of relocating. They were cleaning up from a yard sale when the fire broke out.
