The entire city of Harrodsburg will be under a boil water advisory beginning Tuesday morning, because of some repairs planned for a major water main.
The boil water advisory impacts all water customers of the city of Harrodsburg and customers of the North Mercer Water District. The advisory begins at 7 tomorrow morning.
Officials with the Harrodsburg Water Department say the transmission main at the city's water plant will undergo some repairs, as part of an expansion project.
Officials say these repairs could pose health concerns for water users, by virtue of the possibility of contamination of the drinking water in the area.
As a precaution, officials decided to issue the boil water advisory. Officials say water being used for consumption should be boiled for at least three minutes at a rolling boil.
Officials say the boil water advisory will remain in effect until the repairs to the transmission main have been finished, and the water is confirmed to be safe by lab results.
Officials say they hope to be able to lift the boil water advisory by mid-evening Wednesday, but that could change.
