$50,000 reward for info on violent post office robbery

The U. S. Postal Inspection Service is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect responsible for the armed robbery and assault of a postal employee at the Burgin Post Office.

The post office, on Main Street in Burgin, was robbed at about 1:00 p.m. on April 13, 2012. The employee suffered serious injuries in the attack.

The suspect is described as a white male in his early to late 20's, 5'7" tall, with a thin build, weighing approximately 140 lbs, and short dark colored hair. He was spotted leaving the scene in a green colored full size pick up truck, driving in the direction of Danville, KY. The suspect wore a long sleeve camouflaged hooded sweatshirt, jeans, and brandished a black handgun. To conceal his identity the suspect wore a full face mask similar to the one used in the Chills convenience store robbery on April 12, 2012, which is being investigated by the Danville Police Department.

Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact the U. S. Postal Inspection Service National Law Enforcement Communication Center at 1-877-876-2455, (option 2), and refer to Case #1922942. This line may be contacted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and callers may remain anonymous.

The suspect should be considered dangerous and should not be approached.

This crime is being investigated by U. S. Postal Inspectors and Kentucky State Police.
