Police are investigating the deaths of a Mercer County couple, after their bodies were found Wednesday morning in their home on Votaw Lane.
The Mercer County Sheriff's Department says they were called to the home around 10:00am Wednesday by the couple's son.
He told authorities he found them after getting call from Central Baptist Hospital, where his mother, Patricia Blackburn, works as a surgical technician. Hospital officials became concerned when Blackburn didn't show up for work.
Patricia suffered stab and gunshot wounds, her husband Dennis, gun shot wounds. Officials say it appears to be a murder, suicide.
Dennis Blackburn is a former Lexington Fire Captain.
Friends say the couple never had problems that they knew of.
The couple lived on a horse farm, and had two sons in both in their 20's.
Police say they will interview family members and friends trying to see what led up these deaths, but say they are not looking for anyone else involved.
