A central Kentucky road is closed because part of it has collapsed.
U.S. 68 in Jessamine County is shut down from Kentucky 33 to the Mercer County line. Both lanes are closed from the county line to mile point 1.519 on KY 33 (Pekin Pike) in Jessamine County.
While road crews work to keep the path blocked, some drivers have no problem opening it back up, getting out of their cars and moving road cones and barrels to drive through.
Part of the road washed away over the weekend when a nearby creek rose due to the rainfall.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Department of Highways says the road will remain closed until further notice as repair work will need to be completed.
They say the condition of the road could worsen and present even more danger to people who ignore the road signs.
Police are asking folks who live in the area to find different ways around U.S. 68 until it is reopened. The Cabinet suggests the Bluegrass Parkway to US 127 - this will lead to Harrodsburg in Mercer County.
