A family was barely able to escape their home early Thursday after it caught on fire.
A man woke up and spotted the flames just before 4 a.m. Thursday at the home on Poteet Street in Harrodsburg.
He had just enough time to get his girlfriend and young children out of the home before flames destroyed it.
Now, the family of four is beginning the task of replacing almost everything they own.
Tim Cox says when he woke up, he noticed something was wrong. He says he noticed a window glowing.
Cox then woke up his girlfriend, and the two ran to the room where their 2 and 3 year old sons were sleeping.
All four were able to escape the burning home.
The only items the family has been able to salvage so far are a couple of Christmas presents.
The family had been renovating the house, but now all of that progress is lost.
Firefighters think the fire started around the home's chimney, but so far, they don't know exactly what caused the fire.
The family plans to start a fund for donations at Farmers National Bank in Harrodsburg. It will be under Sarah Warner's name.
