HARRODSBURG, Ky. (WKYT) - Devonne Smith faces several drug charges after a bust Sunday night. Police arrested Smith in his Harrodsburg home. They seized several types of narcotics, steroids, and thousands of dollars worth of cash.
Harrodsburg narcotic officers received a tip Sunday afternoon about what was going inside Smith's home. Officers conducted interviews and obtained a search warrant. That evening, police searched the home on the 300 block of York Street. Officials say when they entered the house, Smith tried to hide his drugs in his Christmas tree.
Police tell WKYT the accused is a former semi-pro football player. When it came time to arrest him, it took three officers to hold him down.
Rock and powder cocaine, heroin, marijuana, two types of steroids, syringes, scales, prescription drugs, and more than $3,000 in cash were found inside. Smith is charged with trafficking and possessing controlled substances, drug paraphernalia, and trafficking within 1,000 feet of a school.
"It worked out great that the information we received was correct and we got these narcotics off the streets," said Detective Sergeant Brian Allen.
This is the second time Smith has faced drug trafficking charges.
