She's a teenager who touched many lives. A cheerleader that teammates admired. A sheriff's daughter that a community respected.
"I've known her since she was a little bitty thing, when she first came here and she was just like him," said Kelty family friend Leslie Williams, "there is so much support and love pouring out for Ernie and we all knew that it would be this way because the community has always gotten behind him."
17-year-old Alyssa Kelty, the daughter of the Mercer County sheriff, died driving along Perryville Road in Mercer County Friday afternoon. Kentucky State Police say she lost control and hit an SUV headed in the opposite direction.
"She was kind to everyone and didn't pick and choose who she was kind to and she lived life to its fullest. She had a great time. She had a great rapport with her peers," said Southside Christian Church Pastor Matthew Robbins, "there are a lot of students that have gave great reviews of her life and who she was and how she was kind. A lot of good things have been said about her and she's touched a lot of people's lives."
Alyssa Kelty's funeral is Tuesday at 1 p.m.
