Kay Ross, Director, Big Sandy Community and Technical College – Floyd County Adult Education, has recently become a Certified Manager in Program Improvement (CMPI). This national certification is the first of its kind in the adult education and literacy field and signifies Ross as a member of an elite group of professional managers. To receive this credential, Academy participants must meet the requirements of an intensive two – year training program and complete a program improvement project within their organization or agency. KY is one of the only nine states in which adult endeavors have achieved this national certification.
The Leadership Excellence Academy was developed by the National Adult Education Professional Development Consortium and ProLiteracy to support continuous improvement and high quality educational services for adult learners. Academy participants complete an intensive two-year training program based upon current research on adult learning and best practices for adult education and literacy programs.
Ross is the Director of Adult Education at the Prestonsburg Campus of Big Sandy Community and Technical College.
