PAINTSVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - An Eastern Kentucky school is celebrating a big academic win.
The Johnson County Middle School academic team won this year's Governor's Cup competition.
It's an academic competition that includes schools and students from all across the commonwealth.
This is the second year in a row the team has won the cup.
"We have great coaches and our principals are outstanding, and we emphasize that from elementary all the way up through high school. I'd rather win a state championship in academics anytime than I would any sports, so that's how important it is to us," said Johnson County Superintendent Steve Trimble.
This makes the 10th Governor's Cup win for the school.
