JOHNSON COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - A Johnson County mail carrier is facing charges after deputies say he was driving his mail delivery van while under the influence.
Johnson County Sheriff Dwayne Price says two deputies were conducting a traffic safety checkpoint when 43-year-old Sammy Grim drove up in a van marked with U.S. Mail decals.
Deputies say Grim appeared to be intoxicated and failed a field sobriety test.
They searched the van and say they found a pill bottle with Loracet and Tylenol-3.
"Our office has a zero tolerance for drugs and alcohol especially if you mix it up with the highway because your family, my family, everybody's family is out there," Sheriff Price.
Grim was charged with DUI, having a controlled substance not in the proper container, failure to produce insurance and failure to wear a seat.
