VAN LEAR, Ky. (WYMT) - The 29th annual Van Lear town celebration kicks off Friday morning at 10 o'clock.
Organizers spent Thursday preparing for thousands expected to attend the event which includes soup bean dinners, carnival rides, inflatables, tours of the coal miner's museum and Loretta Lynn's Homeplace.
Also, this year six of the 'Appalachian Outlaws' from the History Channel will be in attendence and organizers say there is an exciting change to the ghost tours.
Tina Webb says, "It is not going to be a ghost tour in the museum. We are going to take a hay ride up to Butcher Holler, and then the ghost tour is going to be in the Butcher Holler school."
The ghost tours start Friday night at 9 o'clock. Van Lear days continues through Saturday night with plenty of live music and other activities planned.
