PAINTSVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - A Paintsville business owner says she is tired of hearing about robberies. So when a thief came into the store "Mudpyz n' Butterflyz"...owner, Anita Watts, stood her ground.

Her store had been open for less than an hour on Monday, when Watts and one of her employees were doing some work in their back room.

Watts says, "We hadn't been back there but maybe two minutes and we heard a noise."

She says that noise was, Misty Mollette, stealing from the children's consignment store.

Watts says as she came out of the back room she saw Mollette...already at their counter reaching in the register.

"She was literally dangling over our counter in the register," explains Watts.

The store owner says she is tired of people thinking it is okay to steal, so without hesitating Watts says she confronted the thief.

"I asked her, 'Can I help you?' She slammed the register drawer and came at me. When she did I took her down," says Watts.

Desirae Day says, "I heard screaming and a loud noise so I walked up here and they were already in the floor. She was trying to subdue her, so I grabbed the phone and called the police."

While restraining Mollette, Watts says thankfully Paintsville Police were there in minutes...and instead of getting away with cash, Mollette walked out of the store in handcuffs

"I've always been a fighter. I'm a firm believer in you fight for what is right, you fight for what is yours...and apparently she came to the wrong place of business," says Watts.

Other business owners in the area say they are proud of Watts.

She says standing up for herself and her community is worth every scratch and bruise, "I'm a little sore....but I would do it all over again,"

Watts says the Paintsville Police Department's quick response to her store and taking control of the situation is why the robbery ended like it did.

Police say they also found merchandise from the store in Mollette's pocket. She is charged with second degree robbery and public intoxication.
