PAINTSVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) The city of Paintsville was overrun Saturday with scores of zombies.
It wasn't a horror movie, these ghouls were part of a yearly 5K race.

In this race, runners had to avoid some undead obstacles.

"I've got a bullet hole, my eye is gone, it's a great time," said Sydney Randall. Randall was dressed as a zombie queen.

The walking dead tried to pull flags off the runners' belt. Each flag represents a life. If a runner crosses the finish line with a flag attached then they survived the race.

"This was just an idea three years ago that has grown into a really neat and fun event," said Jennifer Vanhoose, Salvation Army Board Member and event organizer.

But the race wasn't all for tricks. All of the proceeds from the event go to the Johnson County Salvation Army.
