CORBIN, Ky. (WYMT) - A Corbin mother of an autistic son is asking people to "Walk for Autism Awareness."
Whitney Durham is planning an event at the Corbin Speedway for Autism Awareness Month.
On Friday, April 12th starting at 6:00 p.m., she is asking people to wear blue and walk a mile at the track.
The free event will also have inflatables, music, race cars, the General Lee, and a helicopter.
"I'm very excited. It's dear to my heart. My son is six and I'm his advocate and cheerleader, not only for him but all kids with autism," Durham said.
There will be t-shirts for sale at the event.
Durham is also starting a support group for parents with autistic children. It is called "Southeast KY Autism Team" on Facebook.
