LONDON, Ky. (WYMT) - Staying in London, the South Laurel Cardinals are off to a sub-par 1-5 start, and will host the defending class 5A district 7 champion Southwestern on Thursday. Head coach Larry Welch is impressed with how physical the Warriors are and notes how they like the run the ball, and that's something the Cardinals will need to be prepared for come Thursday night.
"They're a solid, work-type football team," says Welch. "You know, they'll run for three yards. They like to run the football and try to make first downs. You know, we got to be able to defend that, and have the mentality for that, and take what their defense gives. They'll attack you on defense. They're very physical on defense."
