PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - He says he always tries to help others, but after a strange incident Sunday a good samaritan tells us he's going to be a lot more careful from now on.
What began as a good gesture in Pulaski County turned into an act of violence, and the suspect, Vickie Maynard, arrested.
Frank Adams says when he pulled over to help another driver Sunday morning, he wasn't prepared for her response.
"I hollered, you need some help? She said, don't get close to this truck. It has a bomb in it."
She was walking around some garbage bags when Adams says Maynard asked him a strange question.
"She said, where's my baby? I said what baby? She said my baby was in that. You stole my baby. I said I had not seen a baby."
Another driver, Dewana Wade, also stopped to help Maynard. She even let Maynard sit in her truck, but when police arrived, they say Maynard took off.
Adams says he saw Wade try to hand on to her truck as Maynard was taking off with it.
"Dragging her feet, she finally let loose. She flipped over a time or two."
Wade was taken to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Police finally caught up with Maynard and arrested her a few miles away.
Detective Chris Gates of the Somerset Police says, "Mrs. Maynard was wearing shorts and no shoes. Strange for it being so cold."
No explosives were found in her and no explanation for the bizarre series of events that now has this Russell County woman in the Pulaski County jail.
