Laurel County Schools are conserving energy and saving money.
The energy reduction initiative is an agreement with Williamsburg and Corbin Independent Schools to lower their energy uses and costs together. Shutting off light switches, computers and monitors is part of the plan. Laurel County's superintendent says the money saved can be used for other important things.
"We're looking for every dollar we can find to spend on student learning rather than pay for electricity," said Doug Bennett, Laurel County Schools Superintendent.
The superintendent says the measures has saved $20,000 so far.
