KEAVY, Ky. (WYMT) - The man who was the Keavy Volunteer Fire Department Chief for more than 40 years died earlier this month. Last night, his replacement was named.
Richard Bales will take over for his older brother, Ronnie bales. Richard Bales started working for the Keavy Volunteer Fire Department in 1978, and has been a Captain with them for the past 20 years. He says succeeding his older brother is a challenge he is ready for.
"I don't plan to do a lot of changing. ronnie had really done great in getting everything going and getting it where it is. and i want to just continue pretty much on the path that he had everything going," said Chief Bales.
Bales says his first order of business is to improve the record keeping system at the station.
