LONDON, Ky. (WKYT) - The London police chief tells WKYT that a stabbing has left one person dead and one person behind bars.
We're told it began early Tuesday morning at an apartment complex on South Laurel Road. Officers responded there to a call of a fight.
When police arrived, they saw a man take off from the apartment, but were not able to catch up to him.
Inside the apartment, they found Pamela Sue Bobbit, 25, with multiple stab wounds to her back, chest, jaw and wrist. Two young children were also inside. Bobbit was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
"It doesn't make any sense," said Bobbitt's sister, Ashely Parms. "My sister was a really good person, she didn't deserve this."
Parms was at the apartment last night. She claims her sister was attempting to leave the suspect, 34-year-old Sean Messer.
"I came over to help her move out, but he got angry and said you will regret leaving me. Then he picked up a knife and started stabbing her."
Investigators say they later learned Messer had recently dropped off a car to be serviced at a local car dealership. They put officers in the area around the dealership. Officers say Messer returned to his car while they were watching, and arrested him.
We're told Messer and Bobbit were in a relationship, and had a one-year-old daughter together.
Messer who declined our request for an interview from the Laurel County Jail on a $250,000 bond is charged with murder and domestic violence.
His daughter, Miranda Messer, believes her dad was acting in self-defense.
"The stories going around about my dad are untrue," the 18-year-old explained.
"Pam was the one who came at my dad with the knife, and he was the one trying to end the relationship last night, not the other way around," Messer said in her dad's defense.
She claims the relationship between her father and Pam was rocky at best, but she never expected the couple's problems would escalate to murder.
"It's horrible. I'm not condoning what my father did, if that's what he did," she said. "But he doesn't have a voice right now, and it's hard on both families right now."
Bobbitt's family is still working to finalize mother of fours arrangements. Her funeral will be held at Affordable Funeral in Barbourville. A fund is being setup in (Pam Bobbitt's) name to help her children.
