EAST BERNSTADT, Ky. (WYMT) - Police are searching for a man that robbed a laurel county convenience store.

Owners of the A&B Quick Stop said Wednesday was a quiet night, except for one thing.

A masked man threatened the clerk with a gun and demanded money.

“The car drives up actually pulls up while he's in the store robbing it you can see the car pull up,” said Daryl Zanet with the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.

Police said the man did not stay in the store for long because he knew what to look for.

“He wasn't the average first time robber he knew what he was doing,” said Zanet.

Surveillance video showed the robber came into the store and pointed to the money underneath the counter, which made the owner think he was already familiar with the store and where the money was.

Folks who visited Quick Stop often worried it could have been someone they know.

“So many people come in here and they do know exactly where everything is and I do believe that they knew exactly where the money was,” said Pearl Collier.

However, said they don't know why anyone would do it.

“This is just a family oriented place and this is just awful that this happened to them,” said Collier

Owners said they will bounce back from the loss.

If you have any information about the robbery you should contact the laurel county sheriff's office at 606-864-6600.
