Ky. (WYMT) - If you are looking for something to do this weekend, how about a yard sale that spans parts of three counties? The East 80 Yard Sale is not just for finding great deals, it also brings people together.
Folks come to the annual event for different reasons.
"I find a lot of great deals for my child, I have a six year old, and he loves all the toys and there's a lot of stuff that's actually new that's really good deals," said Angel Carr, who was shopping at the event.
"They always have a lot of cool stuff for reasonably cheap and I just like to look at the new and unusual things," said Dee Jay Sizemore, who was shopping at the yard sale.
The yard sale spans 55 miles between Somerset and Manchester along Old Highway 80. Everything from clothes to odds and ends is offered, and, of course, fellowship.
"It's a social thing. People see people they haven't seen for a long time, maybe for a year. They get together, talk, laugh and talk about what they've done in the past year," said Eddie Sowders, who is a vendor at the event.
And so much more is offered, too.
Susan Daugherty was shopping at the yard sale with her daughter on Friday, and says the yard sale makes it easier for people to find what they need.
"If you want to find something, all you have to do is travel down one road instead of going to multiple different areas in the town," said Daugherty.
Bringing folks together, one sale at a time.
Police remind potential shoppers that you should expect heavy traffic and frequent stops in the area all weekend.
