LETCHER Co., Ky (WYMT) - The next time you drive down the Whitesburg bypass you might notice something that is quite a hoot!
The 12 foot big horned owl is part of the Letcher County Wildlife Rehab and Education Center Interactive Arts Festival which began one month ago.
High school students completed the project as a part of their metal sculpting class.
Mitch Whitaker works at the center and says this is definitely one of the largest birds they have ever had in their facility.
"This was sort of some way that we symbolize what's going on here. A lot of people don't even know there's a facility like this available. All they have to do now is drive by the bypass and they'll see a big giant owl," said Whitaker.
Whitaker says he would love for groups and schools to visit their facility, but asks that you call ahead of time to schedule an appointment.
