KINGS CREEK, Ky. (WYMT) - Saturday in Whitesburg, one Letcher County native died in a two vehicle car accident. Sunday, his family members talked about how he will be remembered.
Larry Roark says he could never have imagined Saturday would be the last time he would see his cousin Shawn.
"Any death is hard any way you look at it in a family. But when it's just something that happens all at once really quick like that, it's a shock," said Larry Roark.
Saturday at approximately 2:15 p.m., Shawn Roark got in a two vehicle accident, and was later pronounced dead.
"It is the worst thing that can ever happened in the world, to lose your brother," said Nolan Roark, Shawn Roark's brother.
Family members say Shawn Roark was a hard working construction worker who worked on many buildings in Whitesburg, including the Letcher County Courthouse.
Family members say if you walk through Whitesburg, you will likely see a building Shawn Roark worked on.
"He was a real good dry wall man, good concrete man," said Anthony Roark, Shawn Roark's brother.
More than a builder, family members say he will be missed for being a loving and caring person.
"I can't say enough good about him. The people who knew him loved him," Anthony Roark said.
Roark was 37 years old.
Officials say Dorothy Hall Gibson was injured in the accident. She is in critical condition at Holston Valley Medical Center in Tennessee.
