WHITESBURG, Ky. (WYMT) - A Letcher County couple is suing four coal companies.
Jarrod and Linda Sergent argue that the Kathleen Mine in Knott County was not in compliance with safety procedures when Mr. Sergent lost his leg during a mining accident.
Sergent was operating a mining machine, when a section of roof broke free and landed on his leg ... which doctors later had to amputate.
Defendants in the case are ICG Knott County, International Coal Group, ICG Incorporated of Delaware and Arch Coal.
