LETCHER Co., Ky. (WYMT) - The Letcher County Board of Education selected Tony Sergent as their new superintendent.
Sergent says his previous experience as both a principal and a teacher prepared him for the new position.
He says he is excited and looking forward to improving student achievement in the fall.
"That's my goal for this district. That all of our schools can reach a proficient level. We're going to focus on student achievement. We're going to focus all of our resources, both human and financial, in reaching that goal," said Sergent.
Sergent says he never dreamed of having this position 25 years ago when he first started teaching.
His position officially begins on July first.
