Investigators are assessing the damage after a car ran off a busy Lexington road and crashed into a fire station.
It happened around 3 Thursday afternoon at Fire Station 8 on North Broadway in Lexington.
A late model Honda Accord somehow lost control, slamming into the support column of the garage.
The driver had a lower level of consciousness when crews got to him and he was taken to the hospital.
Officials aren't yet sure what medical condition precluded the event.
Firefighters say they just gone through FEMA training in May that helped them respond to this incident, making sure the structure didn't collapse.
It's believed the driver lost control nearly 100 yards away from the station, entered a drainage culvert, went airborne and landed in the driveway of the station, before crashing into the garage.
Repairs to the garage should begin as early as tonight.
