700 jobs coming to Lexington

ACS, a Xerox company, announced Monday it is opening up a new location in Lexington.

WIth the new location on West New Circle Road, comes 700 new jobs.

200 of the jobs are permanent positions, the others are temporary - lasting about 4-6 months. However, ACS officials say some of the temporary positions may become permanent depending on the success of the new location.

There are some trainer, manager, and supervisor positions, although most of the jobs are for call center employees. The company is providing call center services to several health insurance agencies, and the new employees will be helping to answer customer questions.

Mayor Jim Newberry said during a press conference to announce the new jobs, that although Lexington's unemployment rate is below the state's average, this is good news for many who are still looking for work.

The pay is $9.50 an hour and higher, depending on the position. The company has already given out 200 job offers, and will continue to hire over the next 4-6 weeks.

ACS officials say they are looking for qualified individuals, 18 years old and over, with a high school diploma of GED, and some customer service experience.
