Police shoot and kill dog during pursuit

A chase involving Lexington Police involved an officer shooting and killing a dog.

Police say officers were running, trying to catch a juvenile suspect who fled from West Loudon Avenue.

They were trying to a serve warrants they had on him.

When police ran into the backyard of a home on Bryan Avenue, they say a Rottweiler cornered an officer and even bit off part of his uniform.

The officer shot and killed the dog.

Police say the dog's owner was upset. The dog was inside a fenced-in backyard.

The juvenile who was being chased got away.
