The largest church in Central Kentucky now has approval to move ahead with its plan to purchase the property of the old Lexington Mall.
Officials at Southland Christian Church say Lexington's Planning Commission voted unanimously to approved the plan the church proposed for Lexington Mall.
Southland wants to redevelop it into a third church campus.
The plan includes demolishing part of the mall and building a new 2,800 seat worship center.
Southland expects the complete its purchase by the end of the month.
