Two home burglaries Monday night and a string of car break-ins at a Lexington Apartment complex are catching the attention of the police and those who live there.

Police say they've had reports of car break-ins for two months at the Village at Richmond Woods apartments.

The townhouse style apartments are located at the corner of Codell Drive and Old Todds Road.

Those who live there say they got a letter from the landlord saying to lock their doors and windows on both their cars and homes and activate the security systems that come with each unit.

Police say they have increased patrols in the area in an attempt to cut down on the crime.

One woman tells police that someone came in through an unlocked window in the middle of the night on Monday and left with her purse.

Others have similar reports of people coming in through unlocked windows only to be scared away by the people inside.
