A major earthquake in Turkey over the weekend caused some concern for a former UK basketball player.
Enes Kanter, who is a native of Turkey, is in Lexington for Monday night's Big Blue All-Stars vs. Villains game at Rupp Arena.
"It's great. I finally get to play in front of Kentucky fans, it's what I wanted to do a year ago" said Kanter while visiting with fans on Sunday.
Kanter said he heard about the quake from Coach John Calipari, and then called to check on his family.
"They're fine, but it's pretty bad," Kanter said.
Kanter said he's still concerned for all those suffering after the quake, which was the strongest to hit Turkey in more than a decade. More than 270 people were killed in the magnitude 7.2 quake.
Kanter was not allowed by the NCAA to play for UK last season.
With the NBA lockout still in place, he has been playing for the Turkish National Team.
