Police: Shots fired during robbery

Lexington Police are investigating after shots were fired during a robbery.

It happened along Anniston Drive around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Lexington Police say a man carrying a substantial amount of money was targeted by robbers just outside the Dalton Court Apartments.

A chase ensued to Anniston Drive, and around four gun shots were heard by witnesses.

Police have yet to recover any shell casings.

The victim did receive a minor abrasion to his arm after falling while trying to escape, but he did not need to be taken to the hospital.

The robbers did not get away with any money, but police say they stole a car.

"It's our understanding that a vehicle belonging to the victim was taken. So we are actively looking for that vehicle," Lt. J.J. Lombardi of the Lexington Police Department said.

Police do not have any suspects at this time, but they say they are following a few leads.

No one was seriously injured during this incident.
