A central Kentucky opera singer is recovering after being shot in a robbery.
We're told 24-year-old Stafford Hartman, who is a Lexington native, is in her second year of residency at the University of Memphis.
Memphis Police say a man shot Hartman during a robbery outside her home last week.
So far, there have been no arrests in the case.
Hartman sang in a wheelchair during a performance this past weekend, just hours after being shot.
Those who knew her growing up say they aren't surprised by her determination and dedication.
We spoke to a former competitive speech coach from SCAPA in Lexington who says Hartman has always been a passionate performer who doesn't let adversity hold her back, whether acting or signing.
"When she puts her mind to doing something, she makes it happen," Hartman's former coach Beth Randolph said.
Randolph says Hartman was involved in several productions at the school.
Hartman will reportedly have to use crutches for nearly six weeks.
Her next performance is in January.
