A chemical reaction inside a truck caused a scare at a busy Lexington intersection Tuesday morning.
Around 11 a.m., a police officer noticed steam coming from the back of a truck at the intersection of New Circle Road and Colesbury Circle.
The truck, which was hauling metal, was pulled over for an inspection.
Police say it appears the tarp over the truck's load had a hole, and water had seeped onto the metal.
The water and metal reacted with each other, causing the steam.
Emergency crews dried off the metal, and police escorted the driver over to Nandino Boulevard so a new tarp could be placed over the truck's load.
Police say no one was ever in danger during this incident.
