Man convicted of killing sheriff's deputy dies in prison

A man convicted of killing a Fayette County sheriff's deputy has died in prison.

The family of the victim, Fayette County Deputy Joseph Angelucci, told 27 NEWSFIRST that Kentucky Department of Corrections officials told them William Bennett died Thursday.

Bennett was convicted of the 1988 shooting death of Deputy Angelucci.

Earlier this month, Bennett sought parole on medical reasons, but was denied.

The Angelucci family tells us they're glad to put this all behind them, and they feel justice has been served with Bennett's death.

However, they say they also feel sorry for Bennett's family.
